Observed on 17th May every year, World Hypertension day addresses the issue of lack of awareness and low healthcare at a community level. Meanwhile, public healthcare workers and officials are witnessing a surge in non-communicable diseases (NCDs) due to a lack of actionable insight that can be helpful in treatment and care regimens. In a national non-communicable disease monitoring survey, 28% of the participants were reported to have high blood pressure, out of which only 52% were actually on treatment. Similarly, as per the India state-level Disease Burden initiative (2016), 28.1% of death were related to cardiovascular disease (CVD) with 8.5% of cases associated with high blood pressure leading to disability-adjusted life years (DALYs).

Following the concerning number of health issues, the Indian Government has taken measures such as population-based screening and diagnosis for hypertension, diabetes, and cancer. They have also strengthened primary and secondary healthcare facilities along with directives to prevent and control non-communicable diseases. The Government has taken initiatives, such as Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, and launched a network of Healthcare and wellness centers to provide comprehensive and integrated IT systems associated with Healthcare infrastructure to bridge the gaps between different stakeholders.

Adoption of these technologies and digital means is the key to developing a flexible and balanced Healthcare ecosystem with low expenditure that has all the salient features such as Business Intelligence, extensive data coverage, ability to identify risk factors, etc.

This will not only help the Healthcare workers but will empower the nation in building an innovative Healthcare structure that can fasten human progress.
